Extraterrestrial Possession in Fiction
Fiction that covers possession of humans by non-human entities from another dimension.
In some settings, the entities are blamed for evil in the world. In Bitter Root, hateful/racist people turn into monsters, and do even worse things. There is a sense of redeemability in the possessed humans.
In other cases, e.g., Outcast and Monstress, humanity is collateral damage in someone else’s war. The entities are refugees on earth, despite being more powerful than humans.
Volume 9 was nominated for the 2020 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story or Comic. However, not very stoked after Book One (Vol 1 and 2). Maybe it gets better? Only Volume 9 has been nominated for a Hugo Award, so maybe check that next time before committing?
