WATCHER. It is here that Dr. Benjamin Brighton has introduced radical
new treatments designed to ease troubled minds… and turn malicious souls
toward the pursuit of peace.
DEADPOOL. This little gadget I stole from Mr. Fantastic’s lab seems to be
designed with guys like you in mind. […]
WATCHER. But… I… did not
interfere. How did you–
SPIDERMAN. You’re lucky I’m not like you. You’re lucky I don’t kill you for
what you’ve done.
Am I? Do you think they would let you break
character even if you wanted to?
#fourth-wall
DEADPOOL. Your tendency to come back from the brink of death has nothing to do
with your healing factor. Your mutant power isn’t regeneration. It’s
popularity.
DEADPOOL. All the senseless deaths… The resurrections only to be killed
again… The freak mutations… The cosmic rays… The chemical disasters… The
unrequited loves… The secret wars… The secret invasions… The hero’s
journey is about pain. Don’t you… Don’t you get it? We’re puppets! And
Geppetto’s feeding us through the wood-chipper for $%$ and giggles. I can save
us all from this endless cycle of continuity!

Compared to Animal Man ’s breaking of the fourth wall, ’s story isn’t as captivating. There aren’t many instances when the story makes you pause and think.

One gripe with the comic is how major developments happen off-screen. Being able to kill the Watcher is a monumental, but the author resorts to handwaving Mr. Fantastic’s ingenuity. Similar thing occurs with Dr. Brighton affecting Deadpool’s mind through an app on his tablet :-/
