Derived Data Systems

Systems of record hold the authoritative version of your data. Derived data systems are the result of taking some existing data from another system and transforming it in some way. For example, in recommendation systems, predictive summary data is often derived from usage logs. Being clear about which data is derived from which other data helps bring clarity to a system’s architecture.
