GABRIEL. The dream always begins in the dark. You think you know what that means, but you don’t. You can’t. The dark I see is a truer shade than just the absence of light. You can’t find it just by clapping your hands over your eyes. Dark like this gets into you. Penetrates you. Tightens around your skull. Presses into your eye sockets until something pops and even the memory of light – even the belief in light – drains away.
